Buying erotic products in Athens: the short version
Adult shops in Athens are legal, unremarkable and easier to visit than most people expect. They cluster in a few central districts, they open late, and the staff have seen every possible customer walk through the door: nervous first-timers, couples, people buying a gift and praying nobody asks questions. Nobody will ask questions.

What we can offer is the thing that is genuinely hard to find written down: where these shops actually are in the city, what is worth buying versus what is packaging, and how to shop without turning it into an event.
Where the shops are
The physical stores concentrate in the older commercial core rather than the tourist streets. The area running between Omonia and Psyrri has several long-established shops on side streets, generally open until late evening and often with a discreet entrance rather than a display window. Around Gazi and Metaxourgeio you will find a slightly different mix, aimed more at a nightlife crowd and staying open later still.
In the southern suburbs the picture is thinner. Glyfada and the coastal stretch have a handful of options, usually smaller and more boutique in feel, with more emphasis on lingerie and cosmetics than on the full range. If you are staying near the Riviera and want real choice, the trip into the centre is the honest answer.
What is actually worth buying
Categories matter more than brands, and the useful ones are narrower than a shop wall suggests.
- Lubricants. The single most underrated purchase. Water-based is the safe default because it is compatible with almost everything; silicone lasts longer but should not be combined with silicone items.
- Protection. Buy from a shop or pharmacy rather than a vending machine of unknown age, and check the date on the box the way you would with anything else.
- Massage oils and candles. Inexpensive, low-risk, and the easiest thing to buy if you are shopping for two people rather than one.
- Lingerie. Sizing in Greek shops runs on European measurements, so know the number before you go rather than guessing from a home country size.
- Body-safe materials. If you are buying anything that will be in contact with skin for a long period, medical-grade silicone, glass and stainless steel are the materials that can be cleaned properly. Soft porous plastics cannot be, whatever the box says.
Shopping discreetly
Two practical points that people usually work out only after the first visit. Physical shops in Athens almost always bag purchases in plain packaging without being asked, and paying by card produces a line on a statement with a company name rather than a description. If that matters to you, cash removes the question entirely.
Online ordering is the alternative and is well established in Greece, with delivery to a locker or pickup point being the tidiest option if you are in a shared flat or a hotel. Allow a few days; same-day is rare. One thing worth knowing about hotels specifically: parcels addressed to a guest are held at reception and handed over by name, which is fine in a large central hotel and slightly more conspicuous in a small one.
Where a booking with us fits in
It fits in only if you want it to. Some clients like to bring something to an appointment; most do not, and there is no expectation either way. If you are thinking about it, the courteous approach is to mention it when you book rather than producing it on the night. Every companion sets her own boundaries and those boundaries are not negotiable in the room. A two-line message beforehand saves an awkward moment and usually gets a straight answer.
What we would gently discourage is treating a purchase as a substitute for asking. The conversation before an appointment is the part that makes it go well; a shopping bag is not a conversation.
Cleaning, storage and the boring part
Nobody writes about this and it is the part that actually matters over time. Anything non-porous washes with warm water and unscented soap; anything with a motor should never go under a tap unless the box explicitly says it is sealed. Scented soaps and household disinfectants are a bad idea on skin-contact items and are the usual cause of irritation that gets blamed on the item itself.
Storage matters almost as much. Items made of different materials should not be kept touching each other in a drawer, because some plastics react and degrade on contact over months. A cloth bag each solves it entirely. And if you are travelling with anything, be aware that airport security in Greece treats these as ordinary personal items and will not comment, but a battery left switched on in hold luggage is a genuinely common and avoidable embarrassment.
