Almost every bad experience in this market is one of a small number of escort scams repeated with small variations. They are not sophisticated, and none of them survives about sixty seconds of the right questions. This page sets out each one, how it is run, and exactly what to say to close it down — whoever you are calling.
1. The advance payment
By a wide margin the most common, the most costly, and the easiest to avoid.
You are asked to send money before the meeting to “confirm”, “secure the slot”, “prove you are serious”, or because it is high season. The methods rotate — bank transfer, Revolut, PayPal friends-and-family, gift card codes, crypto — but the request is the same. Once it is sent, either nobody arrives or you are asked for a second payment.
The rule: no established agency in Athens takes a deposit. Not for a rare booking, not for a busy weekend, not for an island booking in August, not from a first-time client. The correct answer to “can you send something to confirm” is no, and the correct next action is to end the call.
A variation worth knowing: being asked to send a photograph of a bank card or a screenshot “as proof” is the same scam wearing a different hat. Send nothing.
2. The photographs that are not the person
The second most common and the one that ruins the most evenings, because you only discover it at your own door with the money already in your pocket.
Images are lifted from adult platforms, from other agencies, or from a companion who left the roster two years ago. Somebody else arrives. You are put on the spot in a doorway and expected to accept it because the evening is already committed.
What to ask: when were these taken, and who took them? An agency that photographs its own answers instantly and specifically. Hesitation is the answer.
What to do if it happens: you owe nothing. Not a partial payment, not a travel contribution, nothing. Say plainly that this is not the person in the photographs, and close the door. It is uncomfortable for about four seconds and considerably better than the alternative.
You can also reverse image search the photographs before you call. It takes thirty seconds and settles it.
3. The price that grows
Agreed on the phone, different on arrival.
The mechanism is always the same: a low headline figure gets you to commit, then “extras”, a travel supplement nobody mentioned, or a longer minimum appears once somebody is in your room. The original number was never the real one, and arguing about it in person is exactly the position the model is designed to put you in.
What to ask: what is the total, including travel, and is anything priced separately once she arrives? Get one number. Repeat it back.
A legitimate operation quotes one total before you commit and does not add to it. A travel supplement for the outer suburbs is normal — being told about it at the door is not.
4. The listing with nobody behind it
Less a scam than a structural feature of how this market is advertised, but it wastes as many evenings as the rest combined.
A number sits on a classified site with no roster behind it, no alternative when your first choice is busy, and nobody answering when something goes wrong at eleven at night. Frequently the business stopped operating years ago and the listing simply outlived it, because directories are paid for placement and have no reason to remove anything.
What to ask: is this specific companion free at this specific time, and what happens if she cannot come? A real operation answers both instantly and offers an alternative. Vagueness means nobody is checking a diary because there is no diary.
High search ranking tells you nothing here. Directories outrank agencies because they publish thousands of pages, not because anybody is answering the phone.
5. The bait-and-switch on description
A close relative of the photograph swap, and most common in the narrower categories.
Whatever you asked for — a nationality, an age range, a specific look — is confirmed enthusiastically on the phone regardless of whether anybody matching it is available. Somebody else arrives and you are expected to accept the substitution.
The tell is an operation that says yes to everything, at any hour, on any day. Genuine availability in the narrower categories varies, and an honest agency says no reasonably often. If you have never been told no by a listing, it is not checking.
6. The overpayment and refund
Less common but worth recognising because it targets you rather than your evening.
You are asked to pay by transfer, “accidentally” sent too much, and asked to return the difference — usually by a faster, less reversible method. The original payment is later reversed or was fraudulent to begin with, and the money you returned is gone.
This does not survive the cash-only rule. If nothing is ever paid electronically, none of this is possible.
7. The fake review ecosystem
Worth understanding because it undermines the tool most people reach for first.
Review sites and forums in this market are substantially gamed. Positive reviews are written by the businesses themselves; negative reviews are written about competitors. Whole forums exist primarily to sell placement. Some are genuine, and there is no reliable way to tell from the outside.
Reviews are therefore weak evidence in either direction. The five questions on a phone call are far stronger, because they test whether an organisation actually exists rather than what somebody typed anonymously.
The one-minute filter
These five questions close down every scam on this page. Any legitimate operation answers all five without hesitating.
- Is this specific companion free at this specific time? A direct yes or no.
- What is the total, including travel? One number, before you commit.
- When were the photographs taken, and by whom? Instant, specific answer.
- Is anything payable in advance? The correct answer is no.
- What happens if she cannot come? An immediate alternative, or nothing.

What a very low price actually means
The genuine floor of the Athens market is around €120 an hour. A companion’s hour costs her preparation, travel across a slow city, and the hour itself — frequently two and a half hours of her day.
Below that figure, the arithmetic stops working for anyone doing this legitimately and by choice. A listing at €50 or €70 is therefore not somebody charging less; it is one of the scams above, or occasionally something worse.
Treat a price far below the market as information rather than as an opportunity. It is the most reliable single warning available.
The serious one
Separate from everything above, because it is not about your money.
If anything suggests somebody is not there by choice — another person answering for her, no ability to speak with her directly, an atmosphere of supervision, documents held by somebody else, or a price far below the floor — do not proceed, and do not try to handle it yourself.
Leave, and report it. In Greece that means the police on 100, or the national helpline for human trafficking on 1109, which operates around the clock and takes anonymous calls.
Anything involving a person under the age of consent or anybody who is not there voluntarily is illegal without exception, and it is the one situation where walking away quietly is not enough.
How we work, for comparison
Not as advertising but so you have a concrete reference point for what the answers should sound like.
We photograph our own companions and the images are recent and unretouched beyond colour correction. Profiles come down when somebody is away rather than staying up to generate calls we cannot fulfil, which is why our gallery is smaller than several Athens sites.
Rates are published on each profile. You are quoted one total, including any travel supplement, before you agree to anything. Payment is cash in euros to the companion at the start — no deposit, no transfer, no card, and therefore nothing on any statement.
If a companion cannot come, you are told immediately and offered one or two who genuinely suit. And every companion working with us is an independent adult who has been verified and who chooses each booking herself.
If you have already been scammed
Practical, briefly.
If you sent a bank transfer, contact your bank immediately — recent transfers can occasionally be recalled, and the window is hours rather than days. Card payments can sometimes be disputed. Gift card codes and crypto are effectively unrecoverable.
Keep the messages. Screenshots of the listing, the number and the conversation are what any report needs.
Report the number to the platform that carried the listing. Directories act inconsistently, but a reported number occasionally does come down, and it costs you nothing.
Where escort agency scams concentrate
They are not evenly distributed, and knowing where the risk sits saves most of the trouble.
The narrower the request, the higher the risk. Nationality, age range, a specific look — anything where genuine supply is short is where descriptions get invented. The categories with deep supply see far less of it.
Late night raises it. At two in the morning you have fewer options, less patience and more commitment to the evening, and the listings that operate on that basis know it.
Island and high-season bookings raise it. “Secure your slot” is far more plausible-sounding in Mykonos in August than in Athens in February, which is exactly why the deposit request appears there most.
Classified sites raise it more than agency sites, simply because nobody verifies anything before a listing goes up.
Escort scams in Athens versus the islands
The patterns are the same but the weighting differs, and it is worth knowing which to expect where.
In Athens, the photograph swap and the growing price dominate, because the city is dense, travel is quick and volume is high — the model relies on getting somebody to your door fast.
On the islands, the advance deposit dominates instead. Travel is slow and expensive, the season is short, and “we need something to hold it” sounds far more reasonable when everything genuinely is booked out. It is the same scam and the same answer: no.
Seasonal listings are also a specifically island problem. A number that only exists between June and September, with no organisation behind it and no reason to protect a reputation into next year, behaves accordingly.
What honest looks like
Useful as a contrast, because most of this page describes what to avoid rather than what to look for.
An honest operation tells you no reasonably often. It has a gallery that changes. It publishes rates. It quotes one total unprompted. It volunteers the travel supplement before you ask. It offers a real alternative when your first choice is busy, rather than insisting she is available. And it does not mind being asked any of the five questions — the questions are ordinary, and only an operation with something to hide finds them rude.
If a call feels like a negotiation before you have even agreed to anything, that is the signal. Hang up; you have lost nothing.
Common questions
Should I ever pay a deposit?
No. Never, at any price point, for any reason. No established Athens agency asks for one.
How do I know the photographs are real?
Ask when they were taken and by whom, and reverse image search them. It takes thirty seconds.
What if somebody else arrives?
You owe nothing at all. Say so plainly and close the door.
Why are some listings so cheap?
Because the price is not real, the photographs are not the person, or nobody is coming. The floor is around €120 an hour.
Can I trust reviews and forums?
Weakly. Much of that ecosystem is gamed in both directions. The five questions on a call are far better evidence.
Is a high Google ranking a good sign?
