Two quite different people arrive at this page. One is looking for a dark-haired companion in Athens and the property reference is incidental. Athens has drawn an unusual volume of foreign property buyers over the last decade, and the pattern of those visits is consistent: intense daytimes, empty evenings, a hotel room in a district chosen for convenience rather than character. Dark hair, and why it is the Athens default
Ask for a brunette in this city and you are asking for the majority rather than the exception. Greek colouring runs dark, and the roster reflects that: dark brown and near-black hair, olive and Mediterranean skin, the look most visitors picture when they picture a Greek woman. Blonde is the rarer request here and priced by scarcity of availability, not by any other measure.
Because it is the default, the useful specification is everything except the hair colour. Tell us about height, build, manner, whether you want someone talkative or someone calm, and what languages need to work. Those distinctions produce a good match. Hair colour alone almost never does.
The districts you will actually be seeing
If you are here looking at property, you will spend your days in a handful of places, and knowing what they turn into after dark is genuinely useful.
- Kolonaki. The prestige address, wrapped around Dexameni square below Lycabettus. Expensive, walkable, and the one central district with a real evening life of its own rather than a tourist one.
- Koukaki and Makrygianni. Below the Acropolis, transformed by short-let tourism. Pretty, central, and the streets around Drakou are busy with restaurants until late.
- Kypseli and Patisia. Where the yields are and the renovation projects are. Dense, genuinely Athenian, and much less oriented towards visitors after dark.
- Glyfada, Voula and the southern coast. The tram line and the sea. A twenty-five minute drive from the centre when Syngrou is behaving, considerably more at rush hour. The dress code relaxes, the seafood improves.
- Piraeus and Kastella. The port and the hill above it. Rising fast, and Mikrolimano is one of the better places in Attica to have dinner outdoors in June.
Fitting a booking around a viewing schedule
Property trips run late and unpredictably. Agents overrun, a fourth flat gets added, the notary appointment moves. Plan around that rather than against it.
Give us a window rather than a precise minute when you first make contact, then confirm the exact time once your day is fixed. Central Athens is forgiving here. A companion crossing from Kolonaki or Koukaki to a hotel near Syntagma is a quarter of an hour away, so a confirmation an hour or two ahead is usually enough. The coast is the exception. If you are staying in Glyfada or Vouliagmeni, give us proper notice, because nothing crosses that stretch of road quickly between five and eight.
Hotel or short-let flat
Both are straightforward. Hotels around Syntagma and the Acropolis fringe are entirely used to guests receiving visitors and reception makes no occasion of it; give us the property name and your room number at confirmation. Short-let apartments need the buzzer name, the floor and the entrance code sent in advance. That is where a lot of property visitors end up, sometimes in the very building they are thinking of buying into. Athenian apartment blocks are anonymous and frequently unlit.
Discretion when you are here on business
The Athens property world is smaller than it looks. Agents, lawyers and notaries move in overlapping circles and they talk to each other. If your evenings and your daytimes need to stay entirely separate, say so and they will.
- Nothing about your booking is disclosed to anyone, under any circumstances.
- Your companion arrives dressed to be unremarkable in your building or hotel.
- If you would prefer to meet at a bar rather than have her come to the door, that is easily arranged.
- Photographs are hers to refuse, and she generally will.
On the scenario reading of the phrase
If what interests you is the theme rather than the circumstance, say so. A viewing, a role, a small piece of theatre. It is an ordinary request, discussed at the booking and never sprung on anyone afterwards. Everything is between consenting adults, agreed in advance, and anything not agreed in advance does not happen.
