Roleplay bookings in Athens: an agreed scenario, played by two adults

A roleplay booking is an ordinary companionship booking with one addition: both people agree in advance on a situation and stay inside it. Instead of meeting as themselves, you meet as two strangers who have just been introduced, or as two people reuniting after a long absence, or in whatever framing you have both signed off on. Nothing about the underlying arrangement changes. What changes is the shape of the first hour.

The reason people ask for it is rarely theatrical ambition. It is that a scenario removes the awkward opening. There is no gap where two people work out how to behave, because the frame already tells them. For a lot of clients that is the whole appeal, and it is why we treat these bookings as worth planning rather than improvising.

Three things a scenario needs to work

The scenarios that succeed almost always have the same three components agreed before anyone arrives. First, a setting: where the two characters are supposed to be and how they got there. Second, a relationship: who these two people are to each other and who holds the initiative. Third, an exit: a clear, ordinary way to step out of the scene at any point, which both of you know and neither of you has to explain.

Scenarios that fail usually fail because one of the three was skipped. A vague brief such as pretend we just met leaves both people guessing, and guessing is precisely what a roleplay is meant to eliminate. Two or three sentences of detail sent in advance do more for the evening than an hour of on-the-spot improvisation.

Framings that suit the city

Athens gives you real settings to work with, and using them makes the whole thing land better than an entirely imaginary premise:

  • Strangers at a hotel bar. You arrive separately, you are seated separately, and the scene begins from there. Works especially well in the larger hotels around Syntagma, where nobody is watching anybody.
  • A business dinner that runs long. Formal wardrobe, a restaurant in Kolonaki, and a scene that has an obvious next step built into it.
  • A reunion after years apart. Two people who once knew each other well, meeting again. The warmest of the common framings and the least demanding to sustain.
  • A first date arranged online. Deliberately mundane, and popular for exactly that reason.
  • Travelling companions. A drink on a terrace on the southern coast, two people who supposedly met earlier that week.

Public settings carry one non-negotiable rule: in front of other people, you are simply two adults on a date. The scenario never becomes visible to anyone else, and nothing is said or done that would make a waiter or another guest uncomfortable. Inside that rule, the frame can be as detailed as you like.

Wardrobe, props, and the small details

Wardrobe carries more of a scenario than dialogue does. If a particular style of dress matters to your framing, mention it when you book, not on the day. Requests within reason are usually easy to accommodate; a request made an hour beforehand usually is not, because the companion is already dressed and already en route.

Keep props minimal. A restaurant reservation under a particular name, a drink already waiting, a phone left face down on the table, these carry a scene perfectly well. Elaborate equipment tends to make people self-conscious and rarely improves anything.

Limits, stated plainly

Every roleplay request goes through the same filter, and the filter is not negotiable. Scenarios must involve adults only, in every element and implication. Nothing involving coercion, distress, or any non-consenting party is arranged, discussed, or entertained, regardless of how it is framed or how hypothetical it is claimed to be. Nothing is filmed or photographed. Any companion may decline any scenario without giving a reason, and any scenario can be stopped mid-way by either person.

Within those limits the range is genuinely wide, and our companions who take these bookings are comfortable and experienced with them. Outside those limits there is nothing to discuss, and asking a second time simply ends the conversation.

If you have never done this before

Two pieces of practical advice. Keep the first scenario simple, because a premise with four twists in it collapses under its own weight; the most enjoyable first attempts are almost always the plainest ones. And allow more time than a standard booking. A scenario that has to establish itself, run, and then unwind needs room to breathe, and a short slot spends most of that time on the edges rather than the middle.

Expect to break character once or twice. Everybody does. It is not a failure of the evening, it is two people checking in with each other, and the scene picks up again the moment you want it to.
