VIP is a tier, not an adjective
On this site VIP describes a specific group of companions and a specific way of booking them: longer engagements, more notice, more preparation, and a level of social polish that holds up in company. It is not a word we attach to everyone to make the roster sound better, and the practical differences are real enough that it is worth explaining them before you enquire.
The short version is that a VIP booking is planned rather than summoned. Almost everything that distinguishes the tier follows from that one fact.
Who books at this level, and why
Business visitors with a public evening ahead
The most common case in Athens. A dinner with colleagues or clients, an industry event, a hotel reception – situations where the companion is going to be introduced, talked to, and remembered. What is being bought here is composure: someone who can hold a conversation with a stranger about something other than herself, who knows when to speak and when to let you, and who leaves the room having made you look better rather than more interesting.
Long-form private bookings
The other main case is the opposite setting – an unhurried evening or a full night with no obligations attached to it. At this tier those bookings are the norm rather than the exception, because the companions best suited to it prefer to work that way.
What actually changes at this tier
- Notice. Days rather than hours. The best companions in this group have schedules, and same-evening availability is the exception.
- Preparation. Venue, dress code, language, the names of people who will be at the table, anything sensitive to avoid – all discussed in advance.
- Duration. Bookings are measured in evenings and nights rather than short blocks.
- Presentation. Grooming, wardrobe and styling appropriate to the specific venue rather than generic evening wear.
- Languages. Fluent English is standard; several companions in this group work comfortably in a second or third language.
- Continuity. Returning clients can request the same companion, and the office keeps preferences on file so the same ground is not covered twice.
Discretion when the stakes are higher
People who book at this level are usually more exposed than average, and the handling reflects that. Communication stays with the office. Your details are used for your booking and nothing else – not shared, not retained beyond need, never used to contact you again unless you ask us to. Nobody at the venue is told anything, because nobody at the venue needs to know anything.
Athens helps here more than people expect. The larger hotels along Vasilissis Sofias and around Syntagma handle a constant flow of business travellers, diplomatic visitors and conference guests, and a guest arriving with company is unremarkable to the point of invisibility. The rooftop restaurants and the better Kolonaki tables are similarly used to discretion; staff there are professionals and behave like it.
Planning around the city calendar
Two windows are consistently tight and worth planning around. The first is the conference and business season, roughly October through early December and again from late February, when the central hotels fill and evening bookings are made days ahead. The second is high summer, when the centre empties of residents and the demand shifts wholesale to the coast – Glyfada, Voula and Vouliagmeni – where dinner starts late and evenings run long. A VIP booking on the coast in August that starts at eight in the evening will spend its first hour in a restaurant that has not woken up yet; ten o’clock is closer to how the city actually behaves.
Public holidays and long weekends compress everything. If your date falls near one, ask early.
The briefing, and why it is worth ten minutes
The single largest difference between a VIP booking that works and one that merely happens is the briefing beforehand, and most people underuse it. It takes ten minutes and it is not an interview.
What helps us: the venue and its dress code; whether she is being introduced to anyone and, if so, in what capacity; the language of the evening; any subject you would rather was not raised; whether the evening is likely to run long or end early; and whether there is a reason for her to arrive separately rather than with you. None of this is unusual and none of it needs justifying – it simply lets a companion walk into the room already knowing how the evening is meant to feel.
Returning clients tend to skip this after the second or third booking, which is exactly as it should be. By then the office knows, and the preparation happens without you doing anything.
What we ask in return
Very little, and all of it ordinary. Be clear about the evening when you enquire, so the right companion is matched rather than an approximate one. Confirm details in good time. Treat the arrangement as you would any professional engagement between consenting adults – courteously, punctually, and without renegotiating at the door what was agreed through the office. No photography or recording, at any point, in any setting.
